La Camargue (en occitan provençal: Camarga [kaˈmaʀgɔ] selon la norme classique ou Camargo [kaˈmaʀgɔ] selon la norme mistralienne) est l'espace marécageux formé par le delta du Rhône. C'est un espace terrestre de 145.300 ha au sud de la France, situé géographiquement entre les deux bras principaux du delta du Rhône et de la mer Méditerranée. On peut l'étendre à l'Est jusqu'à la plaine de la Crau, à l'ouest jusqu'à Aigues-Mortes et au nord jusqu'à Beaucaire. Elle s'étend donc sur les départements des Bouches-du-Rhône et du Gard. On distingue ainsi 3 parties : la Petite Camargue à l'ouest du Petit-Rhône, la Grande Camargue, entre les deux bras du Rhône, le Plan du Bourg, à l'est du Grand-Rhône. En son centre se trouve l'étang du Vaccarès, la partie située le long de la mer est bordée d'étangs salés. La Camargue se trouve essentiellement dans le territoire des communes d'Arles, qui est de ce fait la plus vaste commune de France métropolitaine, des Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer et de Port Saint Louis du Rhône. Cette région est composée de deux parties : le nord avec des terres agricoles et le sud composé de marais et de plans d'eau salée qui forment un écosystème particulier. Cet écosystème présente une végétation principalement composée de salicornes et de plantes halophiles (c'est-à-dire des plantes qui supportent l'eau salée) comme la saladelle. Champ de riz en CamargueC'est également un domaine d'élevage de chevaux et de taureaux, de culture du riz et d'exploitation du sel (marais salant). Cette faune et flore particulières ont entrainé la création d'une réserve naturelle nationale sur 13 117 hectares (1927) et d'un parc naturel régional sur 30 000 hectares (1970). L'évaporation annuelle est plus importante que l'apport pluvieux, le fleuve apporte la différence évitant ainsi à la région d'être brûlée par le sel. La Petite Camargue correspond, à l'ouest du delta actuel, à une zone anciennement occupée par des bras disparus du Rhône qui arrosaient la côte Languedocienne, entre Beaucaire à la mer. L'époque historique a gardé quelques traces de cette configuration, probablement avec un delta ayant déjà commencé son basculement vers l'Est (au cours du temps, les embouchures du Rhône se sont en effet déplacées d'Ouest en Est) : la Branche Espagnole évoquée par les auteurs latins et plus récemment au Moyen Âge, le bras qui passait sous Saint-Gilles avant de se perdre dans les étangs reliés à la mer du côté de la Grand-Motte actuelle ou de Maguelonne. De nos jours, le Petit Rhône en voie d'atterrissement peut-être considéré comme un reliquat de cette branche historique, du moins dans son tracé supérieur d'Arles à Saint-Gilles. It is a vast plain comprising large brine lagoons or étangs, cut off from the sea by sandbars and encircled by reed-covered marshes which are in turn surrounded by a large cultivated area. Approximately a third of the Camargue is either lakes or marshland. The central area around the shoreline of the Étang de Vaccarès has been protected as a regional park since 1927, in recognition of its great importance as a haven for wild birds, and was incorporated into the Parc Régional de Camargue in 2008. The Camargue is home to more than 400 species of birds, the brine ponds providing one of the few European habitats for the greater flamingo. The marshes are also a prime habitat for many species of insects, notably (and notoriously) some of the most ferocious mosquitos to be found anywhere in France. It is also famous for bulls, The Camargue Bull and the Camargue horse. The flora of the Camargue is specially adapted to cope with the saline conditions. Sea lavender and glasswort flourish along with tamarisks and reeds.

Biarritz (French: Biarritz, pronounced [bjaˈʀits]; Gascon Occitan: Biàrritz; Basque: Biarritz or Miarritze) is a town and commune which lies on the Bay of Biscay, on the Atlantic coast, in southwestern France. It is a luxurious seaside town and is popular with tourists and surfers. Biarritz also boasts some of the best beaches in Europe and has won multiple awards for their top class standards. Biarritz is located in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques département, in the Aquitaine région. It is adjacent to Bayonne and Anglet and 11 miles (18 kilometres) from the border with Spain. It is in the traditional province of the French Basque Country, Labourd. Vikings who invaded Gascony in 840 settled in Biarritz, which later participated in the whaling trade. Biarritz is a Basque name with locative suffix -itz (cp. Isturitz) attested Bearriz in 1170, Bearids in 1186, Bearritz in 1249. The Scandinavians settled in the area above the Gardague Beach. It has been suggested (disputedly) that the remaining Vikings became "Agots," a social group in Gascony not allowed to mix with the population at large. Segregation among these communities—there were many in Gascony and Navarra— disappeared only in the early 20th century. Biarritz has long made its fortune from the sea: as a whaling settlement from the 12th century onwards, in the 18th century doctors recommended that the ocean at Biarritz had therapeutic properties, inspiring patients to make pilgrimages to the beach for alleged cures for their ailments. Biarritz's became more renowned in 1854 when Empress Eugenie (the wife of Napoleon III) built a palace on the beach (now the Hôtel du Palais). The British royal family regularly took vacations in Biarritz: European royalty such as Queen Victoria, Edward VII, and Alfonso XIII of Spain were frequent visitors. Together with nearby Anglet, Biarritz, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, and several smaller communes, Bayonne forms an urban area with 178,965 inhabitants at the 1999 census, 40,078 of whom lived in the city of Bayonne proper (44,300 as of 2004 estimates). The communes of Bayonne, Biarritz, and Anglet have joined into an intercommunal entity called the Communauté d'agglomération de Bayonne-Anglet-Biarritz. Bayonne is the main town of Labourd and it is part of the French Basque Country.

Carcassonne (Occitan: Carcassona) is a fortified French town in the Aude département, of which it is the prefecture, in the former province of Languedoc. It is separated into the fortified Cité de Carcassonne and the more expansive lower city, the ville basse. The folk etymology—involving a châtelaine named Carcas, a ruse ending a siege and the joyous ringing of bells ("Carcas sona")—though memorialized in a neo-Gothic sculpture of Mme Carcas on a column near the Narbonne Gate—is of modern invention. The fortress, which was thoroughly restored in 1853 by the theorist and architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1997. The fortified city Carcassonne was struck from the roster of official fortifications under Napoleon and the Restoration, and the fortified cité of Carcassonne fell into such disrepair that the French government decided that it should be demolished. A decree to that effect that was made official in 1849 caused an uproar. The antiquary and mayor of Carcassonne, Jean-Pierre Cros-Mayrevieille, and the writer Prosper Mérimée, the first inspector of ancient monuments, led a campaign to preserve the fortress as a historical monument. Later in the year the architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, already at work restoring the Basilica of Saint-Nazaire, was commissioned to renovate the place. In 1853, works began with the west and southwest walling, followed by the towers of the porte Narbonnaise and the principal entrance to the cité. The fortifications were consolidated here and there but the chief attention was paid to restoring the roofing of the towers and the ramparts, where Viollet-le-Duc ordered the destruction of structures that had encroached against the walls, some of them of considerable age. Viollet-le-Duc left copious notes and drawings at his death in 1879, when his pupil Paul Boeswillwald, and later the architect Nodet continued the rehabilitation of Carcassonne. The restoration was strongly criticized during Viollet-le-Duc's lifetime. Fresh from work in the north of France, he made the error of using slates and restoring the roofs as pointed cones, where local practice was traditionally of tile roofing and low slopes, in a snow-free environment. Yet, overall, Viollet-le-Duc's achievement at Carcassonne is agreed to be a work of genius, though not of strictest authenticity. Fortifications consists of a double ring of ramparts and 53 towers. Other Another bridge, Pont Marengo, crosses the Canal du Midi and provides access to the railway station. Lac de la Cavayère has been created as a recreational lake and is about five minutes from the city centre.

Nîmes (Provençal Occitan: Nimes in both classical and Mistralian norms) is a city and commune of southern France. It is the préfecture (capital) of the Gard département. Nîmes has a rich history, dating back to the Roman Empire, and is a popular tourist destination. The city derives its name from that of a spring, Nemausus, in the Roman village. The contemporary symbol and shield of the city of Nîmes includes a crocodile chained to a palm tree with the inscription 'COLNEM', an abbreviation of 'Colonia Nemausus', meaning the 'colony' or 'settlement' of Nemausus. Veterans of the Roman legions who had served Julius Caesar in his Nile campaigns, at the end of fifteen years of soldiering, were given plots of land to cultivate on the plain of Nîmes. Nîmes was located on the Via Domitia, a Roman road constructed in 118 BC, connecting Italy to Spain. Nîmes may have been one of the richest and finest Roman cities of Gaul. Several important remains of the Roman Empire can still be seen in and around Nîmes: The elliptical Roman amphitheatre, of the 1st or 2nd century AD, is the best-preserved Roman arena in France. It was filled with medieval housing, when its walls served as ramparts, but they were cleared under Napoleon. It is still used today as a bull fighting and concert arena. The Maison Carrée (Square House), a small Roman temple dedicated to sons of Agrippa was built c. 19 BC. It is one of the best-preserved Roman temples anywhere. The 18th-century Jardins de la Fontaine (Gardens of the Fountain) The nearby Pont du Gard, also built by Agrippa, is a well-preserved aqueduct that used to carry water across the small Gardon river valley. The nearby Mont Cavalier is crowned by the Tour Magne ("Great Tower"), a ruined Roman tower.[3] Later monuments include: The cathedral (dedicated to Saint Castor of Apt, a native of the city), occupying, it is believed, the site of the temple of Augustus, is partly Romanesque and partly Gothic in style. [Cathedral:[1],[2],[3] There is modern architecture at Nîmes too: Norman Foster conceived the Carré d'art (1986), a museum of modern art and mediatheque; Jean Nouvel the Nemausus, a post-modern residential ensemble, and Kisho Kurokawa a building in the form of a hemicycle to reflect the Amphitheatre. Tree-shaded boulevards trace the foundations of its former city walls. Lisbon Trams and Funiculars Transportation in Lisbon is more charming than in most cities. Much is owed to its geography; much of Lisbon has been built on its seven hills. No visit to Lisbon is complete without riding the 1930s trams. The greatest attractions, though, are the funiculars, of which there are three. These are Elevador da Glória, Elevador da Bica, and Elevador da Lavra. Ecole bilingue français - occitan " Calandreta Castresa "

La structure « Calandreta Castresa » La «Calandreta Castresa » est une école associative créée il y a 10 ans et implantée sur Castres. Elle accueille une soixantaine d'enfants entre 2 et 11 ans. C'est une école bilingue français-occitan qui travaille en immersion; l'enseignement des enfants de maternelle se fait uniquement en occitan, le français s'installe progressivement dés la primaire. Les écoles calandretas répartis dans tout le sud de la France ont pour but de promouvoir et faire vivre la culture occitane par le biais de leur enseignement. L'école est entièrement gérée par des bénévoles, à l'exception de l'équipe pédagogique qui est gérée par le ministère de l'éducation nationale. L'école inclus sur sa structure des temps périscolaires: une équipe se charge de proposer matin, midi et fin d'après-midi des activités aux enfants. L'occitan Avant le français, l'occitan était la langue parlée dans le sud de la France ( occitanie). L'importance de faire vivre cette culture, cette langue, n'est pas sans intérêt, loin de là. Non seulement c'est une sauvegarde de notre patrimoine mais tout comme le latin, l'occitan est en parti à l'origine de notre français d'aujourd'hui. Au début certains parents sont sceptiques sur l'intérêt d'apprendre cette langue, ils ont peur que leur enfants ne maîtrise au final ni le français ni l'occitan. Ce n'est pas du tout le cas nous explique M..... l'institutrice , l'occitan les aide à mieux parler le français, car par exemple, là où les enfants rencontre une difficulté sur la terminaison d'un mot en français, l'occitan leur en donne la réponse. De plus, l'aspect bilingue de l'école offre aux enfants une ouverture aux différentes cultures et à l'apprentissage d'autres langues. L'Europe et la « Calandreta Castresa » Depuis 2005 la structure accueille des volontaires européens ( S.V.E ). Les volontaires venu de toute l' Europe renforcent encore plus la démarche d'ouverture culturelle et linguistique de l'école. Le volontaire, qui vient découvrir un autre pays, une autre langue, une autre culture et pour la plupart un nouveau travail, apporte cette même découverte aux enfants; c'est un échange. L'année dernière 2005-2006, Teresa volontaire venant de République Tchèque à permis aux enfants de l'école « Calandreta Castresa » de rencontrer des enfants venant de son pays. Tous en garde un souvenirs ancré. Cette année 2006-2007, c'est Patricia volontaire espagnole qui leur a amené une partie de son pays. Et c'est cette même volontaire que vous pouvez retrouver sur le film. Martyna et Jérôme
